CAN I PUT BUTANE IN A WICK LIGHTER?
No. Wick lighters use liquid lighter fluid (naphtha). Butane only works in a wick-style case if you buy a separate butane insert.
BUTANE VS LIGHTER FLUID: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Butane is a pressurized gas used in torch and open flame lighters; it burns clean with almost no smell. Lighter fluid is a liquid used in wick lighters; it's easy to find and refill but evaporates over time and has a slight smell.
HOW DO I REFILL A WICK LIGHTER?
Pull the insert out of the case, lift the felt pad, and slowly drip lighter fluid into the cotton until it's saturated but not dripping. Wipe off any spills, reinsert, and wait a couple of minutes before lighting.
WHY DOES MY WICK LIGHTER KEEP RUNNING OUT OF FLUID?
Lighter fluid evaporates naturally, so a wick lighter can dry out in a week or two even if unused. Top it up regularly.
